Giving back to the communities where we live and work has a been a part of General Mills’ story from the beginning. This year for Global Volunteer Week, over 600 employees came together to volunteer and make a greater impact. Keep reading to see how teams around the world spent their time during Global Volunteer Week.
Manufacturing teams from plant locations in Milwaukee, WI; Geneva, IL; Covington, GA; Cedar Rapids, IA; and Fridley, MN, volunteered with local food banks and nonprofit partners to pack meals and support their hometown communities.
Volunteers from our Mumbai office made 1,131 seed balls containing various fruits and vegetables seeds to be distributed to local tribal and rural communities.
Volunteers from our Mississauga, Ontario office put together feminine hygiene and regular hygiene kits and donated them to United Way. The team also planted 125 native trees and shrubs at a local park.
Employees at our Montreal, Quebec office prepared meals for the clients of the United Way Multi-Cafeteria.
From meal packing events to spring cleaning, employees showed up to support their hometown community. Global Volunteer Week culminated with the making of hundreds of food safety kits with our nonprofit partner, Open Arms.
Volunteers from our Boulogne, France office participated in a cleaning mission around the Canal de l’Ourcq in Paris.
Volunteers from our Uxbridge, England office continued their annual tradition of helping the Iver Environment Centre prepare for the busy spring season with planting, weeding, filling planters and more.
Across Greece and Spain, employees volunteered their time to support environmental and biodiversity projects, including protecting bee habitats. In Switzerland, volunteers made reusable shopping bags for those in need.
Employees from our Rooty Hill plant in Sydney, Australia volunteered at FoodBank Australia, packing boxes of food for the local community.
Volunteers from our São Paulo, Brazil office prepared soup while learning about the importance of reducing food waste. After preparing, the team distributed the soup in thermoses to those in need in the São Paulo region.
Global Volunteer Week may have come to an end, but giving back to the communities where we live and work doesn’t stop there.
